Davis says back-to-back wins has confidence brimming again

Steve Davis expects a tough encounter at Fratton Park this weekend but says that back-to-back victories over Hartlepool United and Shrewsbury in the Football League Trophy mean his team will head to the South Coast full of confidence.

Ahead of the trip to Portsmouth, the Alex boss told us: “The players have had back-to-back wins and that has boosted the confidence and the belief. We will be going to Portsmouth to try and win the game.

“We need the wins to move us up the table and that is always our objective. We can expect to win every game but we always give 100% to try and achieve it. We know it will be a tough game at Portsmouth with the players they have and the atmosphere they can generate at Fratton Park.

“It will be tough but back-to-back wins means we go there with confidence. The players have bounced back really well and these are the type of games we all look forward to.”
