Steve:"Places Up For Grabs"

17 October 2012

Boss fires up his squad ahead of Walsall trip this weekend

Steve Davis says his team will not have a day off this week as the Railwaymen look to bounce back from a disappointing 2-0 defeat at Portsmouth at the weekend. Davis has been encouraged with the work ethic of his squad in the wake of that defeat at Fratton Park and says that competition for places is increasing day-by-day.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We are looking to improve and it has been a working week. You've got to earn your days off and they've not been doing that lately.

“In the wake of a defeat, I look for a reaction from the players to see what they are going to do to get their minds back on the job and they have been all flying around.

“The lads out of the team have sensed there might be a chance to get back in there and that is what we are looking for. The competition has been good and we have been pleased with the reaction.

Steve added: “I am not one for wholesale chances and maybe I will and maybe I won’t. We will keep assessing them this week before we decide upon changes or not.”
