Looking Forward To Walsall Test

17 October 2012

Alex boss impressed by Dean Smith's Saddlers

Steve Davis says he is looking forward to a good quality game of football against Walsall this weekend. Despite the Saddlers 1-0 defeat to Shrewsbury on Sunday, the Alex boss was impressed with the way Dean Smith’s side played in front of the television cameras. They were certainly unlucky to have lost the game and Davis was impressed with their young players.

Ahead of this weekend’s trip to the Bescot Stadium, Steve said: “I thought Walsall were good against Shrewsbury. I thought overall they played the better football better and Shrewsbury rode their luck at times. The Shrewsbury goalkeeper was kept busy and Walsall were unfortunate not to have got at least a point from the game.

Dean (Smith) has assembled a good young team there and they play good football. They are a bit similar to us, so I am looking forward to the game. They had a great start to the season but have fallen away a bit, but it will still be tough at their stadium.

Steve added: “Every game is difficult but we are looking forward to improving on our performance at Portsmouth.”
