"I'm Happy At Crewe"

Steve closer to agreeing new deal and wants to move Crewe on

Steve Davis has told the club’s official web-site that he is closer to signing his contract and remains happy at Gresty Road. The Alex boss has understandably been linked with the vacant job going at his former club Burnley, but Davis stresses that his mind has never wavered from the job he is doing here at Crewe.  His focus remains on ‘moving Crewe up the League table to be where we want to be.”

Davis’ name has been in the frame for the job at Turf Moor after guiding the Railwaymen to promotion in his debut season in management, but he has told crewealex.net that although flattered to be linked with such a high-profile position, he wants to celebrate his anniversary in charge by signing his new deal at the club.

Steve told crewealex.net: “My contract is now back with the chairman and the club. The club solicitor will look over it and hopefully everything will be in order and I will sign it as soon as possible. It would be nice to sign it on my one-year anniversary.

“There were only a few minor things to be sorted out as the LMA’s contract differed in some ways to the club’s template. It was only some small things.

“I have always stated that I am happy here at Crewe. I thoroughly enjoy it. They are a good group to work with and I enjoy working with the staff. I haven’t wavered from my objective which is to improve the club and move us up the division. I have a long-term aim to improve us week-by-week, month-by-month and year-by-year and see where that takes us.

“Of course, that could depend on the budgets and which players we can attract and the ones we have to sell, but there is a never a dull moment at Crewe and I really enjoy coming in every morning. I want to remain here.”
