Arsenal youngster back after red card with point to prove.
Chuks Aneke is available for selection again this evening after serving a three-match suspension for his red card at Stevenage and boss Steve Davis says the versatility of the Arsenal man will help Crewe cover some injuries. With wingers Byron Moore and Ryan Colclough ruled out for tonight’s meeting with Oldham Athletic, Aneke could be line for an instant recall after frustratingly missing the last three games.
Aneke can play right across the midfield or off the front and manager Steve Davis says his return will give him fresh options. Crewe has already agreed in principle with Arsenal to extend his loan deal for another month and that should be confirmed later this week.
Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Chuks has been brought up the right way at Arsenal and he plays football the right way. We knew he would fit in here and he has that ability to play a key pass in the final third.
“He showed that to set-up AJ’s (Leitch-Smith) second goal at Stevenage but then undid that with the sending off. I’m sure he will learn from that quickly and will be wanting to show the fans what he is capable of.
“He came here on loan to play games and was frustrated to be suspended. He had got himself going and was involved and then it was taken away from him due to his own rashness.
He added: “Chuks is a good lad and his versatility with the injuries we have at the moment will certainly help us.”
