Boss Praise For Big Al

Steve saves some praise for his busy goalkeeper and captain

Steve Davis picked the bones out of a poor performance against Oldham Athletic last night to save some words of encouragement and praise for his goalkeeper Alan Martin and captain Luke Murphy.

Martin certainly kept the score down at the Latics, especially in the first half, and Murphy’s character and drive in the second half made him named as the sponsors’ Man-of-the-Match award.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Alan did well and in truth he kept us in the game in the first half. He was alert and kept the score down. He was decent and his distribution was good throughout.

“He was as disappointed as anyone after the game. Although he has played well, the team has lost and he has conceded two goals, although he was helpless with both of them.

“Alan was one who could be proud of his performance, and Murph deserved his man-of-the-match award for his endeavour and drive to try and get us going. He showed some character and we needed more of it from others.”
