Goalkeeper Alan Martin targets six points from our two home games this week

Alex goalkeeper Alan Martin says the club will be looking to make our forthcoming home matches against Oldham this evening and Hartlepool United on Saturday count. The Alex lost a tight encounter with MK Dons on Saturday and Martin says our luck in front of goal will change for the better sooner rather than later. Martin is looking for that to change against the Latics this evening.

Ahead of tonight’s game, Al told Crewe Alex Player: “We have to start winning matches and picking up three points to move us up the table and put us where we want to be. We now have two home games and we are targeting six points. The belief is there amongst the players and if we play as well we did in the second half at MK Dons then there is no reason why we can’t do it.

“I just think we have not had too much luck in front of goal. We have the players here who can finish because I see it in training every day. I can’t save half the shots because of the quality of the finishing and I don’t think we have had much luck in the games.

“AJ hit the post on Saturday and we had three or four decent efforts that just when over or the wrong side of the post, so it will change. We also have Pogs back tonight which will give everyone a lift.

“There has not been a lot of goals in our games and we have been defending reasonably well of late so if we can carry on doing that and take more of our chances then we will be fine.”
