Steve says Crewe is attractive for young players eager to play games
Steve Davis says the club’s reputation for producing young players and giving them a chance in our first-team is providing an attraction for bigger clubs to offer their young players to us on loan. Crewe completed the loan signing of Newcastle’s attacking midfield player Brad Inman yesterday and have Fulham’s Lauri Dalla Valle and Arsenal’s Chuks Aneke playing in our first-team. The Manchester City winger Harry Bunn was also doing well before a serious knee injury prematurely ended his season.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I don’t know what the future holds for the likes of Brad, Lauri and Chuks. They are young lads playing reserve team football and everyone knows how hard it is for young players to break into the first-teams of Premier League clubs.
“They will see coming to a club like Crewe as chance to play competitive games and impress. I think clubs enjoy having that link with the Football League clubs, so that their players who are not quite good enough to be in their first-team squads can come out and get some games.
“I’m sure they are encouraged to come to Crewe because we will give them a chance to play, help them improve and hopefully they can return to their clubs better players because of the experience.
“Who knows what happens further down the line? Perhaps they will enjoy themselves here and if they ever became available they might come back.”
