Alex boss gives us his reaction from the Greenhous Meadow after 1-0 loss
Steve Davis was left frustrated after being denied what he described as one of the most obvious penalty he has seen when Lauri Dalle Valle was pushed at a free-kick. His side came out and dominated the possession in the second half but couldn’t quite find that break through against a spirited Shrewsbury defence.
After Crewe’s 1-0 defeat, Steve told crewealex.net: “I thought it was a bit scrappy at the beginning but we settled into it and both teams created a few chances in the first half without really making either goalkeeper worked too hard.
“I felt it was a penalty when Lauri was pushed. It was a stone wall penalty as far as I am concerned. I don’t think you will get a more obvious one than that but there you go. I asked the referee and he thought it wasn’t but he was probably the only one in the entire ground who didn’t think it was. Again we are talking about the officials rather than the game but you just have to get on with it.
“There goal has come from a lack of concentration, Pogs has lost possession on the half way line and the lad Summerfield has come on to the cross from Morgan. We will have to do some work on tracking the runs of midfield players
“We came out second half and dominated the possession. They had a few breaks but e controlled the game and nothing really fell for us. We just couldn’t find that goal that we deserved.
“I didn’t think we did enough to win the game but I thought we deserved a point for our efforts and we tried everything we could to try and get it for our supporters who again turned out in their numbers.”
