Steve: "It Was A Terrific Second Half."

10 November 2012

Steve Davis gives us his reaction after a famous comeback

"They gave us the response we wanted and were terrific in the second half. We gave themselves some home truths and they responded. We created chances and pushed them back and I thought we would because I thought they wouldn't be able to keep their work rate up. The crowd got behind us and that helped us. We gave them some real excitement and it was edge of the seat stuff.

"I didn't think there was a lot in it but I couldn't wait to get in at half-time. I wouldn't say I was calm or that it was the hairdryer treatment but it is as close I can be to it. I think it was my best half-time talk and I've just asked the players if they want to be a team fighting relegation or a team in the top half of the table. They didn't say a word but I think they have gone out and shown everyone what they are about and what they want to be.

"I can't explain the starts we make  but it has happened a few times. I cannot put my finger on it. We started well at Doncaster on Tuesday but we didn't today. We gave away two silly goals and we made it easy for them to score which is disappointing. I didn't think there was much in the game. They had a few chances and we had a few chances but they have scored.

After the 3-2 win, Steve told the club's official web-site: "It was amazing and the players were terrific in the second half but I don't want to many games like that because I don't think I will last very long. They started really well and worked hard to pressure us in possession and that stopped us playing. I  thought their tactics were very good and we couldn't find Chuks and Lauri was isolated up there.

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager praised the spirit of his players as they fought back from two goals at half-time to secure a superb three points against Colchester United this afternoon. Goals from Lauri Dalla Valle, a penalty from Luke Murphy and a header from Mathias Pogba sealed a famous win.
