Steve: "A Really Good Point For Us"

Boss gives us his reaction after 3-3 thriller

Steve Davis has told the club's official web-site that his Crewe side deserved a share of the spoils at Bramall Lane after his side battled back from 2-0 down with some real attacking quality.

The boss told crewealex.net: “I am not sure how Danny (Wilson) is feeling but my voice has gone this evening. I am sure he and his players will be disappointed to have only got a point after being 2-0 up because they would  have been thinking it could be a big score in the first half, but the players didn’t lie down and showed some really good character and belief.

“We are always trying to project that confidence and belief in them from the sidelines and I think it rubbed off them because they never know when they are beaten and it was a tremendous achievement and effort to get it back to 2-2 and then go ahead at the beginning of the second half.

“I thought when we went ahead at 3-2 that we could go on and get another and we are not a team that are going to sit back and try and protect what we have. I wanted them to come here and have a go and attack them and I thought we did that really well.

“We could have done better with the goals we conceded because we knew they would be a threat from set-plays, so for them to score from two corners was disappointing. We have to mark better there and we will work on that.

He added: “The players kept going throughout and showed some real quality with our attacking play and it is a really good point for us against another of the top teams in this division.”
