Old Boys Will Relish Return

30 November 2012

Davis on old boys Lee Bell and Calvin Zola

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager, says it will be good to see our former players Lee Bell and Calvin Zola tomorrow, but that he doesn’t want to make it a perfect return for them by allowing them to get a result.

Steve has told the club’s official web-site that he spoke with his Burton counterpart in the summer and knew that the former Derby, Everton and Birmingham full-back would be bringing in experienced professionals like Bell.

Ahead of the cup-tie at Gresty Road, Steve said: “I spoke with Gary in the summer about who he would be looking to bring in and he wanted experienced players who had played at this level and the league below. He wanted to have players with that know-how and be able to rely on them out on the pitch. That is what we has done.

“I’m sure Lee and Calvin will be relishing the chance to come back to their former club and play. They were good players for this club and should get a good reception from our fans.

“Gary also has some athletic players in the team, especially on the wings and big Zola up there as the target man, so we know what is coming and have to combat it.”
