Nice To Share The Goals Around

Steve Davis was delighted that the goals were shared around his team in Saturday’s FA Cup tie with Wycombe Wanderers, and the Alex boss is hoping that our 4-1 win will restore some confidence ahead of tonight’s trip to Doncaster Rovers.

Mathias Pobga scored his first goal since late August at Brentford and Chuks Aneke scored his third goal since joining us on loan from Arsenal. Captain Luke Murphy scored from distance and defender Mark Ellis from close range to seal an impressive victory.

Davis is hoping that sharing the goals around the team will take the pressure off of his forward players more often.

Steve said: “It is nice to share the goals around the team and that has been our aim. We cannot rely on our strikers to come up with the goals all the time and at the moment we have two of them our injured anyway.

“We want as many of our forwards and wingers to get into double figures and it the likes of Murph and the defenders can chip in with a few as well then that is only going to help us.

“We scored two great goals from distance on Saturday and two from close range. Pogbs got in there after some good play from Byron Moore and Mark (Ellis) stayed up there to covert a good ball in.

“As a manager you want the goals shared around as much as possible and after scoring four, I hope that can take that into the Doncaster game.”
