Steve Davis on Shrewsbury's vastly experienced manager Graham Turner

won automatic promotion from League Two last season, are currently in the bottom four after three wins this season. The Shrews have surprisingly yet to win on the road.Steve Davis says the vastly experienced Graham Turner is the ideal man to change around the fortunes at Shrewsbury this season. The Shrews, who

Davis is a keen admirer of the career of Turner and has revealed that the former Aston Villa and Hereford boss once tried to sign him for Wolves when Davis was at Burnley.

Steve told crewealex.net: “Graham has been in the game a long time and he once tried to sign me when I was at Burnley. He wanted to take me to Wolves, so I’ve known him since then really.

“He has great experience and has had some top jobs in the game and of course, he was also chairman/manager at Hereford as well. His experience will be invaluable to the club. They will need all his experience to get them moving in the right direction again. I’m sure he will turn things around because he is a fighter.

“That level of experience will be a big help to him and the club because he has been there and done that. They have not made the start they would have wanted but they are still a good side with good players.

“Graham has done a really good job at Shrewsbury, he got them promoted last season and now, like all of us he is seeing what a really tough league this is, because anyone can beat anyone.”
