Don't Expect Any Loans

20 November 2012

Steve says he is unlikely to do anything before Thursday's deadline

Steve Davis admits that it is unlikely that he will bring in any more loan signings before Thursday’s deadline, but he has indicated that he will do business in January if he feels he can improve his side. The Alex boss is certainly after another midfield player on a permanent basis during the transfer window to offer cover and competition for his only two senior players in a central role Luke Murphy and Abdul Osman.

January. The Alex boss was clearly disappointed that we didn’t transfer our possession into goals at Shrewsbury last weekend.stThe Alex boss has not ruled out improving his attacking options either if the club’s front-line continue to draw blanks between now and 1

Steve told crewealex.net: “We've got Max (Clayton) back now and we are expecting AJ (Leitch-Smith) and Westy (Michael West) back soon as well.

“We have to get what we can out of the players we have got, move them around and try to find the winning combination. I've got to stick with them.

“Of course, they have until January to prove that they can do it on a consistent basis. They have shown that they can in glimpses and done well in some games and then had blanks in others. They have a bit of breathing space to prove they can become more clinical and when I mean that I mean the front six.

“We need our forward players to threaten the goal more and take those chances. That is what we have done this week, working on our crossing and shooting and hopefully if something drops at Sheffield United we will be in a better frame of mind to take those chances.”
