Chuks Can Be Game-Changer

Davis encourages Aneke to keep on creating and scoring

Steve Davis says he wants his loan signing Chuks Aneke to continue in his playmaker role and offer an alternative to the now departed Nick Powell. Davis feels the Arsenal teenager is the closest thing we have to mirror Powell’s unpredictability in the final third of the pitch and the England junior international has scored four important goals so far during his loan spell, including the third goal in a thrilling 3-3 draw.

“Our forwards have shown glimpses of what they can do. They were clinical at Sheffield United when the chances fell to them, but on Saturday at Shrewsbury we had another blank. I am still sure what we are going to get from the front six if you like from one game to another.  Steve told the club’s official web-site:

“They have shown that they can be clinical on their day. The difference this season, is that we don’t have a player like Nick Powell, who could score a goal out of nothing or create something himself. We have had to reinvent ourselves a bit because of that. Chuks is probably the nearest we have.

“He has two good feet, can see a pass and has shown that he has a shot on him. He can play in that hole like Powelly did and make things happen, but he is still relatively inexperienced and is still learning the game. I think he is a good player, with good attributes and will only get better.”
