Burton Come With Nothing To Lose

Davis says Burton can come and play with a dangerous freedom

Steve Davis will warn his side against complacency tomorrow as Gary Rowett brings his experienced Burton Albion side to Gresty Road. Davis expects our former players Calvin Zola and Lee Bell to in opposition in what should be an intriguing knock-out tie. The Alex boss expects a tough encounter in the quest to reach that third round draw, when the Premier League and Championship sides enter at the third round stage.

Steve says that in the modern game, those home bankers don’t exist anymore and that his team will have to play well to get the right result.

The Alex boss told the club’s official web-site:  “Teams go out to win even if they are the away side and Burton will come here with that freedom to play as underdogs.

“I was looking at the results from League One recently and I don’t think there was a home win amongst them. They were either draws or away wins and that goes to show you that teams go for it and feel they can win away from home.

“Burton come here with nothing to lose and we will be wary of that. They will come and have a good go and we will have to play well to get through. It is not often that we have been in this position of needing a win to get into the third round. Getting into that draw and making it exciting for the supporters and themselves is motivation itself.”
