Boss Would Move For Midfielder

Steve admits he would like to bring in a midfielder permanently in January, if he can find one

Steve Davis has admitted that he may well resist the chance to bring in any more players on loan for the time being , but the Crewe Alexandra boss says he is looking for a possible permanent midfield signing in the Janaury transfer window. The Alex boss has had to work with only three recognised central midfield players, in his captain Luke Murphy, summer signing Abdul Osman and the relatively inexperienced Ollie Turton.


Davis is reluctant to bring in another loan signing because he will be ‘forced’ into playing him and Davis is placing his faith in the team after they enjoyed successive victories over Wycombe in the FA Cup, away at in-form Doncaster and in last week’s dramatic win at Gresty Road over Colchester.


Steve: “I am not trying to do anything in the loan market for the time being. I would much prefer to be doing something permanent. I would like another midfield player if possible, but it is difficult.


“The two we have in there are doing well. I won’t go out and get better than Murph that’s for sure and Abdul does an important job for the team. They are different but compliment each other well and young Ollie has done well of late and is improving all the time.
