Boss Hoping For Nearly Fit Squad

14 November 2012

Steve Davis is hoping the progress being made by West and Mellor will provide more options

Steve Davis is hoping winger Michael West (groin) and Kelvin Mellor (knee) will be able to resume training this week and possibly be involved for Saturday’s trip to Shrewsbury. The Alex boss has already been boosted by the news that forwards Max Clayton and Ryan Colclough are back in training after recent injures. AJ Leitch-Smith is also running again following ankle ligament damage.

Mellor and West missed Saturday’s comeback against Colchester United on Saturday due to their injuries but as they are not so serious, they could be back in training sooner rather than later.

The Alex boss is keen for his treatment room to be empty as possible as he heads into the busy festive and New Year period.

Steve said: “I have a few back now and that gives us more options. I am hoping one or two can train again towards the end of the week and make themselves available. We have the likes of Ryan back but he has missed a lot of football.”
