Steve Davis hopeful Alan will secure his future with us soon
The latest news of Alan Martin’s contract has seen Steve Davis speak directly with the goalkeeper’s representative. Crewe Alexandra have offered the Scotland-born goalkeeper a new 18-month deal and Davis is hopeful that it will be resolved very soon after encouraging talks.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I spoke to Alan’s agent last week and he has come back with a different offer. I will talk to the chairman about it this week and think things over.
“There is a different of opinion but we are not that far away. They were positive talks and his agent has reiterated that Al is keen to stay with us. I don’t envisage too many problems.
“I am not too worried because the window is getting closer because I have two good goalkeepers already here. I have no qualms about putting Ben (Garratt) in or on the bench if needed and Steve is very experienced and ready to play.
“The goalkeeping situation is healthy here but Alan was done very well this season and we want him to secure his future with us.”
