Steve still missing two of his Wembley winners for FA Cup tie
Steve Davis has virtually a full strength squad to pick from for tomorrow’s FA Cup tie against Burton Albion at Gresty Road. The Crewe boss is still without Kelvin Mellor (knee) and AJ Leitch-Smith (ankle) but has winger Michael West back from his calf strain.
Mellor has received positive news over his knee scan, conducted on Monday, and now the defender has to build up the muscle around his knee again. Leitch-Smith will resume training early next week, but is a bit behind with his overall fitness level following the injury he sustained at Portsmouth back in October.
Steve told crewealex.net: “We have had a good week and not having a mid-week game meant the players could have some time off, rest and relax. They have worked hard and the sessions have gone long into the afternoon, so the preparation has been good.
“I have virtually everyone available again. I am without AJ and Kelvin but they are making good progress and will back with the group soon. Kelvin’s scan has come back positively but he is behind AJ in terms of his recovery. He has some work to do to re-strengthen.
“I have everyone else available for selection and I may look to rest one or two over the next couple of games, but we want to win them both and go as far as we can in both competitions.”
