Aiming To Bounce Back

Alex skipper aiming to put Saturday behind us

Crewe Alexandra’s captain Luke Muphy is looking for his side to bounce back from a disappointing defeat at Shrewsbury at the weekend, with a positive result at Bramall Lane this evening.

The Alex will arrive in Sheffield as underdogs after Danny Wilson’s side tremendous start to the new campaign, but Murphy says a recent 2-0 win at Doncaster Rovers proves that Crewe can upset the odds in League One.

Murphy wants to erase that disappointing 1-0 defeat at the Greenhous Meadow as soon as possible but he knows we will have to be at our best to get anything from a difficult trip to a side expected to win promotion this season.

Ahead of this evening’s clash, Murphy told Crewe Alex Player: “The Shrewsbury result was very disappointing for everyone after what has been three really good results and performances from us.

“The confidence was high going into the game at the weekend, but it wasn't to be for us. It was that first half performance again.

“I thought second half we were much better. I thought it was a penalty but we can't blame the referee. For their goal Pogs lost the ball and I lost my man so there is me and him both to blame.

“I don't think they deserved to win, they rode their luck, but we've had luck in other games this season. We didn’t create enough clear-cut chances and that is something we have to look at.

Murphy added: “We now have a difficult game at Sheffield United, who have been one of the most consistent teams in the league. We will all have to play at our capacity to get something, but we did that at Doncaster and ended up winning the game, so we will be looking to repeat that level of performance again.

More reaction and build up from Luke Murphy now on Crewe Alex player, who not sign up for just £4.49 a month.
