New Alex defender delighted to sign

Crewe Alexandra's new signing Gregor Robertson hopes his experience will help the Alex as they prepare for life in League One. Robertson agreed a two-year deal with the Railwaymen yesterday and will link up with his new teammates when they return to training tomorrow.

At just 28, the former Chesterfield left-back is currently the oldest outfield player at the club. Robertson is hopeful that the experience will help a young side here at Crewe, with very little League One experience.

Gregor told Crewe Alex Player: "I am delighted to sign for Crewe. I came and had a look around a few weeks back and from then I was desperate to get a deal done. The facilities are fantastic and I spoke to people I know like Jamie Lowry and they were all full of praise for the place the staff and the ability of the team.

"So I spoke with Neil (Baker) who seemed to know everything about my career! Crewe had watched me last season and wanted to sign me on loan. This time they really sold the place it has a good atmosphere and I was keen to come

"Now that I am here hopefully I can help the team.I don't think there is any extra burden in being one of the most experienced players. I feel I can use my experience to talk to the boys on the pitch and that can help a young team.

"I want to get a place in the team, keep it and play as any games as possible and have a successful season
