Oldham did draw level in the final ten minutes, but after a defensive mistake of his own, Mark Ellis promptly made his way up the pitch to head a winner from Bryon Moore’s excellent cross.

After a fine 2-1 win to end an unforgettable year, Pogs told the club’s official web-site: “After we lost at Tranmere we needed to get three points and we did. We started well at Oldham but we didn’t take our chances but we came good in the second half.

“I was very pleased to score because I missed a big chance in the first half. I was happy to score and I kept going. The manager always tells me to keep going and I am born that way anyway. Even if I miss, miss, miss, I keep going trying to score.

“The fans were great again and I will always give everything for them. We now have two home games coming up and we have to take advantage of that.”
