First Target Met

Steve happy with progress but still after improvement

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager says his players have hit his first target of 30 points and he has challenged them to reach 50 points as soon as possible and take things from there. The Crewe manager is still striving for his team to show a high level of consistency but a recent run of four wins out of six in the league have propelled us back into the top half of the table.

The Alex boss has enjoyed a terrific year and a bit in charge of the club but he is still looking for his improving side to grow and get better.

Steve told the club’s official web-site: “I set a target of 30 points before Christmas and they have managed that with a few games to spare. We have had a good period and become more consistent but we still have that inconsistent game in us. It is around the corner, so we have to keep working hard and get better.

“It is a new team with some new players and the players have had to adjust to losing arguably our best two players in the summer. They are coping well but we want to improve. It is a young group and we still have some who have been on the bench, who have not made their debuts yet.

“They have stepped up well and had some good result and the belief and confidence grows with that. They are getting used to going to bigger ground against better players and picking up results. They know I am ambitious and I want them to work hard and rise to the challenges we set them.”
