Davis On Tranmere Test

24 December 2012

Steve Davis on Boxing Day test at Prenton Park

Steve Davis says Ronnie Moore’s Tranmere Rovers will be aiming to bounce back after a 5-0 defeat to Swindon Town on Boxing Day. Tranmere slipped off the top of the League table after Sheffield United won 2-0 at Crawley Town 24 hours later.

Crewe and Tranmere played out a goalless draw earlier in the season and Davis says despite their heavy defeat at the County Ground on Friday night, they are still a force to be reckoned with.

Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Tranmere were well beaten at Swindon on Friday but I think you are going to get games like that. Bretford deservedly beat us 5-1 earlier in the season and we didn’t play well.

“They had their rough night on Friday when they have not played as well as they can. Swindon played well and deserved to convincingly win the game.

“Ronnie will be looking to get a reaction from his players. That makes them a dangerous opponent. Ronnie has done a great job since he went back there and they are really having a go this season and are competitive because they have good players.

Having strength in depth can make a big difference.” He added: “They have lost one or two of their key players through injury and like any team that is going to affect you.
