Harry to shake off shin injury to face Preston
Harry Davis is expected to shake off a bruised shin to face Preston North End this weekend. Davis suffered the injury in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy tie against Doncaster Rovers, but remained on the pitch to see out the 90 minutes and then score his penalty in the decisive shoot-out. Davis was caught on the shin when clearing a loose pass from goalkeeper Steve Phillips on the edge of the penalty area.
The centre-half, who in the absence of Luke Murphy captained the side in our shoot-out win, will train today and is fully expected to play at Deepdale.
Steve Davis told the club’s official web-site: “Harry got a whack on his shin and had a stud mark all the way down it, but I’m sure he will fine.
“He will train today and I’m sure he will come through okay. It was badly bruised but it has improved over the last couple of days.“
Crewe are certainly without the injured AJ Leitch-Smith (ankle), Kelvin Mellor (knee) and the suspended Matt Tootle.
