Steve Davis says his in-form team will not be fazed by Preston test
Steve Davis says some really encouraging results on the road this season should give his side extra confidence to go and get a positive result at Preston this weekend. Crewe have already won at Doncaster Rovers, drawn at Sheffield United and beaten Coventry at home and Davis is after a similar performance against Graham Westley’s side at Deepdale.
Steve told the club’s official web-site: “We’ve already gone to places and done very well this season. We have gone to the likes of Doncaster, Stevenage and Sheffield United and got results. We have beaten Coventry at home and drawn with Tranmere who were top of the league and on a great run.
“So we’re not going to be fazed by playing Preston. They are a good side and we respect them but we’re not going to be unnerved by going there to play. We’re looking forward to it and rightly so.
“We’re in good form, the players are playing fairly well at the moment as a group and whichever team I pick will be up for it I’m sure.
“Deepdale is a great stadium to play at. It’s full of history, an historic club with passionate supporters who, over the years, have seen some success. Recent lean times have been difficult for them but they will come good again, it’s a smashing club.
The boss added: “It’s a lovely ground to play at, always a good pitch, good surface and good atmosphere. All those things will help the players and help make it a decent game.”
