Blackwell Has Turned Bury Around

13 December 2012

Alex boss says Shakers are a different side to the one that started the season

The appointment of Kevin Blackwell as Bury manager has turned them into a different proposition since the start of the season. The Shakers were struggling in the wakes of Richie Barker’s departure to Crawley Town on the eve of the new season and it had a damaging effect on the start of their season. They were struggling for results, before the club turned to the experience of the former Luton, Sheffield United and Leeds United boss Blackwell.

Steve Davis, the Crewe Alexandra manager says Bury will be a tough opposition as they aim to move out of the drop zone:  “I think Bury will be a different side from the one that started the season. They were struggling at the bottom of the league but they appointed Kevin at the right time and he has come in and changed things around for them.

“They have a good chance of getting out of trouble now. They have had their financial problem this week with the transfer embargo, but Kevin is a very experienced manager and has coped with that sort of thing before.

“He will only be focussed on the football and getting a performance from his players. I am sure they will be looking forward to the game as much as we are. I’m sure they will bring a number of supporters and it should be a good test for us.

“I’m sure they will want to do well for the club, the manager and their supporters after what has happened this week. It is in the human nature to come out fighting when things go against you and we will have to be ready for that.”
