Leitch-Smith set to be named in Alex squad for trip to Oldham
AJ Leitch-Smith has fully recovered from his ankle injury and is in contention to be named in Crewe Alexandra’s squad to face Oldham Athletic tomorrow. Leitch-Smith has not featured since mid-October after being on the receiving end of a challenge from Portsmouth’s Brian Howard in a 2-0 defeat at Fratton Park.
Steve Davis is contemplating selecting him in his travelling squad to Boundary Park tomorrow as he searches for a more clinical edge up front.
Steve told crewealex.net: “AJ is back with us and looks sharp again. He is still lacking that overall match fitness but we will introduce him back into the squad and he might be involved tomorrow.
“He may play a part somewhere. We had a chat yesterday and he says that he feels good and is ready to come back into it. That is a real plus for us because he is a good player and a very good finisher.
“Maybe having someone like AJ gives us that player who can do something out of the ordinary. He has had a big impact for the club over the last 18 months and he now has to regain that form.”
