Osman was withdrawn as a pre-caution at Prenton Park
Steve Davis has given Abdul Osman the all-clear after the combative midfielder was withdrawn at Tranmere on Boxing Day. Osman was at his battling best in the club’s 2-1 defeat and Davis has dismissed the idea that the former Northampton man picked up a knock at Prenton Park.
Ahead of our Saturday trip to Oldham, Steve told: “Abdul is fine. I took him off towards the end to protect him a bit. It was his first game in around 10 days and he was tiring. He put a shift in and we were looking for a goal so I put Chuks (Aneke) on.
“He is okay and will play at Oldham. The players were disappointed to lose the game and that goes to show how far we have come. They have come to a club who have been at the top of league for much of the season, and they were gutted afterwards that they had lost.
“You can’t dwell on things and we have to move on quickly because we have three games coming up in a short space of time. The players have done that and are in good spirits.”
