Crewe Alexandra Under 23's were held to a 0-0 draw at Gresty Road against Watford, despite dominating proceedings for near-on 90 minutes.
Alex Morris' charges spurned several opportunties and decent attacking positions, but should've had a penalty with the last move of the match when James Jones was chopped down in the box.
Jones, Ollie Finney & Lewis Reilly all had decent chances inside the first 45 but couldn't test the keeper with their efforts.
After the break, Crewe continued to probe and attack the final third, with loose passes & an apparent lack of cutting edge thwarting the efforts.
Substitute Luke Walsh rattled the post with a 12-yard side-footer 15 minutes from time after Joe Lynch's slide-ball, with Dion Perreira almost stealing it for Watford late on when he smashed a 25-yards towards the corner that Dave Richards was forced to beat away.
The late penalty shout wasn't given by referee Amy Fearn as the game ended scoreless.
On the plus side, it was a third straight clean sheet for Alex Morris' side who travel to Nottingham Forest for their next fixture this coming Wednesday.
Crewe: Richards, Adebisi (Lynch), Raynes, Walker, Lundstram, Griffiths, Jones, Finney, Wintle, Hurst (Walsh), Reilly
