Match Report | Crewe U21s 4 Colchester U21s 0

28 August 2023

  • Railwaymen pick up their first win of season
  • Four different scorers at Mornflake Stadium
  • Valuable minutes for Finney and Billington

Crewe Alexandra Under-21s picked up their first Professional Development League success of the season with an emphatic success at the expense of Colchester United.

Captain Billy Sass-Davies, Muhamed Jatta, Calum Agius and Will Parry were on target for Mike Jackson's side, who have now taken four points from the first nine.

Keeper Tom Booth was called into action on a few occasions in the first 20 minutes and dealt with the danger each time.

The deadlock was broken by Sass-Davies who headed home from close range on 20 minutes.

The second goal came just before the break when Agius unselfishly squared for Jatta who sent the keeper the wrong way with his calm finish.

Rhys Allport created the third after the restart when he slid a neat ball into Agius who rifled into the bottom corner.

And it was 4-0 when Agius's inviting cross was met by Parry who forced it home after a scramble.

Crewe travel to Millwall next week (Monday, September 4).

Crewe: Booth, Billington (Senior), Finney, Nolan, Sass-Davies, Robinson, Parry (Vincent), Lunt (Leader-Williams 45), Allport, Agius, Jatta (Moore).

Colchester: Collins, Falase, Terry, Kennedy (Lowe), Nelson (Dyer), Beadle (Marcel- Dilaver), Mufomba, Cooper (Green), Hutchinson, Thorn, Bennett.
