A patched up Crewe Alexandra Under 18 side were humbled 6-0 at high-flying Sheffield Wednesday in the PDL2 as also having a first team & Under 23 game on the same day took it's toll.
With the full first team squad away at Oldham, the U23 side at Birmingham City featured not only first year pros, but the bulk of the second year scholars that would normally represent the U18s come a Saturday.
With those players missing, messers Lee Bell & Michael Jackson were left to field a roster of first year scholars as well as calling up a number of Under 16 players for the clash.
Even still, the patched up side battled valiantly & gained some valuable experience despite succumbing to the strength of the Owls.
