Lee Bell's Crewe Alexandra Under 18's were unfortunate to lose out 2-1 at Barnsley.
Luke Walsh once again got on the score-sheet, but it wasn't enough as the Tykes struck a goal either side of Walsh's effort & then clung on to record all three points.
The hosts took the lead in scrappy fashion, a deep corner from the right was headed towards goal, & the forward pounced to fire in the loose ball after a couple of blocks.
Crewe drew level before half-time when Joe Thompson did well down the left to get to the by-line & commit the goalkeeper, before cutting back for Walsh to steer into the nearside corner.
But despite the heavy spells of pressure from Crewe, Barnsley re-took the lead when the tricky winger cut inside & teed up a striker for a shot that bounced back off the post, only for it to fall to another Tykes man to steer in low at the near post.
Crewe pressed & continued to dominate as they looked for the elusive leveller, and it so nearly came in injury time when Walsh hit the post with a good strike - but it wasn't to be.
