Crewe Alexandra travel to West Sussex to take on Crawley Town on Saturday (3pm).
Lee Bell’s side will aim to bounce back from two straight defeats and complete a League Two double over their hosts.
The Opposition
Crawley sit 21st on 25 points, one clear of Gillingham who occupy one of two spots in the relegation zone.
The Red Devils were defeated last time out against the Gills, though they beat promotion-chasers Salford City in their last home fixture.
The Gaffer
Scott Lindsey was appointed Crawley manager in January, on a two-and-a-half-year contract, after leaving Swindon Town.
Lindsey spent most of his playing career in non-league football, before moving on to Swindon’s academy. He was made Forest Green Rovers assistant manager in 2016. He rejoined Swindon as assistant manager in summer 2021, and was named head coach last summer.
Fighting Talk
Lee Bell: “We have to respond, all of us. The players will be fully committed to putting in a performance. We are going there to win the game. There has been no hiding, and we are sticking to high standards. We all know what we have got to do.”
Scott Lindsey: “I almost want them to play like their lives depend on it; to go out there and put every ounce of effort into winning a game. It’s not easy. You’ve got 11 other men out there who are trying to stop you. But I can assure the fans that the players will be working extremely hard to make that happen.”
Team News
Crewe will be without David Amoo who left the field early on Tuesday night against Leyton Orient. Kelvin Mellor, Courtney Baker-Richardson and Christopher Long remained sidelined.
Ben Gladwin is anticipated to make his first start as captain for Crawley, having been appointed as skipper during the week. Jack Spong is in contention to make his debut after signing on loan from Brighton until the end of the season.
Head-to-Head
Crewe have won 10 of their 17 meetings against Crawley Town, drawing four times and losing on three occasions.
Earlier in the season, the Alex were 1-0 winners courtesy of a second half strike from Courtney Baker-Richardson.
Officials
Charles Breakspear has been appointed as referee for Saturday’s encounter with Crawley, having last officiated the Alex in April 2022, a 1-0 defeat away to Sheffield Wednesday.
He will be assisted by Justin Amey and David Harrison, with Stuart Butler appointed as fourth official.
