Preview: Wigan Are In Crewe Town

10 October 2020

Wigan Athletic are the Alex's latest test in Sky Bet League One, with David Artell's men looking to secure back-to-back wins following their first three points of the season against MK Dons last time out.

Following last weekends postponement, the Alex have fallen into the relegation zone after three games. Whilst today's visitors currently sit in 11th with two wins in their previous two league games. Mikael Mandron has been an impressive acquisition since joining in the summer and he will be hoping to build on from his first league goal for the Railwaymen.

Date: Saturday 10th October 2020

Competition: Sky Bet League One

Venue: The Alexandra Stadium

Referee: Martin Coy

Previous meeting: Crewe Alexandra (Inman 43') 1-1 Wigan Athletic (Wabara 16')

Team News:

Crewe: With no game last weekend, it's given Artell's treatment room another week to work on making themselves available. Today's fixture could see the return of Daniel Powell who has missed the majority of pre-season and the start of the season on the sidelines whilst Tom Lowery completed 70 minutes for the Reds in the EFL Trophy group stages against Newcastle.

Wigan Athletic: The Latics rang in the changes on Tuesday evening against Port Vale in the EFL Trophy with Jamie Jones, Kal Naismith, Gavin Massey, Viv Solomon-Otabor and captain Joe Garner all missing out. However, they are all expected to return for Saturday's fixture. Two players who will be missing for John Sheridan are Nathan Cameron and Adam Long after receiving postiive COVID-19 tests in the week and are currently self-isolating.
