Overview

The Player Care Co-ordinator will be an integral part of our Academy structure, working closely with the Academy Welfare Officer. You will be responsible for the planning and delivery of a bespoke life-skills and mental health and wellbeing programme for all academy players. This role will focus on promoting and developing best practice around all areas of player welfare.

Role responsibilities

  • To develop and maintain the Academy’s provision for the mental health and wellbeing for all Academy players.
  • To work closely with the Academy Safeguarding Officer, highlighting any potential issues regarding the wellbeing of Academy players in line with club policies.
  • To coordinate and lead the operational delivery of the mental health strategy including action plans.
  • To establish a highly informative life skills programme that is delivered to Academy Staff, Players and Parents through regular workshops and presentations.
  • To develop links with external partners to help improve support for our Academy players in relation to mental health and wellbeing.
  • Support the Academy Manager with required documentation to support any Audit processes.
  • Regular attendance in to the Academy, visible to players and parents in the role of 'Player Care'.
  • Offer support to any players new to the Academy to ensure a smooth transition into the Academy.
  • Offer after care support to any players who are released from the Academy.
  • To ensure players and parents have a voice on the Academy

Qualifications

  • Full valid driving licence

Desirable

  • Experience in working with elite young athletes

  • Experience of working with sensitive and confidential information

Job title: Lead Academy Physiotherapist

Salary: £26,500

Department: Academy Sports Science & Medicine Department, Alexandra Park Training Ground, Reasheath

Main Contacts: Head of Academy Sports Science & Medicine, Lead Academy Sports Scientist and Academy Manager

Position Overview

A full-time position that aims to:

  • Co-ordinate and lead the physiotherapy service within the academy structure (U9-U23)
  • Assist the Academy Sports Science & Medicine Department making sure the department meets all EPPP requirements as outlined in the EPPP Sports Science and Medicine Strategy.
  • Implement the Academy Medicine provision that focuses on the rehabilitation and the injury prevention of all professional development players with a focus towards u23’s squad, including rehabilitation plans
  • Work with the club Physiotherapy department to perform testing for all professional development
  • Liaison with players and coaching staff with regards to injury progress and return to play times.
  • Arrangement of relevant consultations where necessary

Working Hours

  • Following the professional development phase (U23) weekly format
  • Assist with twice weekly evening injury clinics for youth development phase (u13-u16) and weekend fixtures

Essential Requirements

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy 
  • HCPC Registration
  • Full member of the CSP
  • Valid FA ATMMiF/AREA Qualification
  • Experience of working within a professional football environment
  • Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and the ability to accurately manage data
  • Able to be flexible with their working week to cope with the demands of the role
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Requirements

 

  • Previous experience of EPPP and PMA data input
  • Evidence of working with youth elite athletic development

 

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Report daily to the Head Physiotherapist and contribute to the formal monthly departmental meetings and informal weekly meetings.
  • Lead the planning and implementation of the injury prevention for all u23 players and academy
  • Planning, leading and delegating the implementation of rehabilitation for all u23 players and academy
  • Planning the implementation of individual group testing/ screening sessions for all u23 players and academy
  • Work with u23 head coach with regards to training load planning
  • Work in collaboration with the Head Sports Science and Medicine and other club Sport Science staff to provide specific physical development training sessions for u23 players
  • Liaise with the club Nutritionist to aid planning and implementation of academy nutritional strategy for all u23 players
  • Liaise with the club Psychologist to aid planning and implementation of academy psychology strategy for all u23 players
  • Contribute to monthly CPD within the Academy Sports Science & Medicine department
  • Lead the match-day Physiotherapy provision for the u23’s squad and assisting with academy players
  • Record all data and online medical notes onto the PMA system in line with the EPPP requirements

Essential requirements

  • Master’s degree in sport & exercise science (or related discipline)
  • Hold or be working towards British Association of Sport and Exercise Science (BASES) accreditation
  • Hold a current EFAiF first aid qualification
  • Hold or be working towards UKSCA/NSCA/ASCA accreditation
  • Knowledge of the EPPP system
  • Knowledge and experience of working in a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to interpret and apply scientific knowledge to practice
  • Relevant experience in a sports performance environment
  • Experience of utilising relevant data (objective and subjective) to assess, plan and influence training processes
  • Excellent IT skills

 

Role responsibilities

  • Report daily to the Academy Manager and Academy Management team
  • Assume responsibility for the planning, development, and delivery of the academy physical development program and pathway (U9 to U23)
  • Work closely with the Academy Management team to integrate physical development within the holistic development program
  • Planning and implementation of sport science processes (e.g. testing, screening, profiling and monitoring)
  • Planning and implementation of group/individual strength & conditioning sessions
  • Planning and implementation of group/individual injury risk reduction strategies and interventions
  • Providing the Academy Manager and Academy Management team physical profiles for all academy players (U9 to U23), relative to age, growth and maturation
  • Manage and lead the sport science and medicine team, including staff across sport science, strength & conditioning, physiotherapy, performance analysis, nutrition and psychology, as well developing an internship program
  • Maintain and create links with industry-relevant partners and companies
  • Oversee the return to play process for rehabilitating players alongside the Lead Academy Physiotherapist
  • Contribute to player ongoing review processes with individual player insights
  • Ensure continuity across sport science and medicine practices across the academy pathway
  • Contribute to ongoing education for staff, parents and players with regard to sport science and medicine disciplines
  • Lead on departmental continued professional development, for both internal and external development opportunities
  • Assist the Academy Manager as directed

Job title: Sessional Part Time Physiotherapist/Sports Therapist

Department: Academy Sports Science & Medicine Department

Location: Alexandra Park Training Ground & Various locations for away fixtures

Contract: Sessional/Casual

Reporting To: Lead Academy Physiotherapist, U18 Academy Physiotherapist and Academy Manager

Position Overview

To provide therapy & first aid services to Crewe Alexandra Academy within the U9 – U16 age groups. This role will predominately involve providing pitch side first aid with potential scope to cover evening injury clinics. As a result, the position will involve weekend working & evening working to meet the demands of the academy.

Essential Requirements

  • BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy/BSc Sports Therapy/BSc Sports Rehabilitation
  • Valid IFAS/ITMMiF or prepared to complete course upon acceptance of position
  • Display excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be motivated and have an interest in working in a dynamic medical department
  • Be comfortable working evenings & weekends to meet the demands of the academy
  • Be able to work individually or as part of a team

 

Desirable Requirements

  • Previous experience of EPPP
  • Evidence of working with youth elite athletic development
  • Experience of working within a professional football/sports environment

 

Job Responsibilities

  • To provide excellent first aid cover for academy fixtures home/away as required
  • Assessment and treatment of injuries of academy players as they present
  • To complete necessary paper work regarding assessments, treatments and screening of players
  • To communicate effectively with Lead Academy Physiotherapist, Senior Academy Physiotherapist and coaches regarding injuries, treatments and fitness to play.
  • To communicate with academy players parents & guardians regarding injuries where appropriate
  • To work effectively with Sports Scientist/Strength & Conditioning coaches in aiding fitness testing/Screening
  • Stay up to date with the latest research and medical findings within the sports medicine world.
  • To adhere to and carry out the clubs safeguarding policy especially regarding working with children under the age of 18
  • To attend the academy’s CPD sessions as required to help develop the club & academy
