Full-back Danny Blanchett has admitted that he was left scratching his head after Crewe Alexandra began the new season with a 1-0 defeat on Saturday. The Railwaymen conjured up enough chances to have won the game against Hereford United at the weekend, and the club's summer signing from Peterborough couldn't believe that we didn't have anything to show for our efforts, especially after dominating large chunks of the possession.
Danny told crewealex.net: "It was a disappointing result because I thought we played well to have got something from the game. We should have got at least a point and in all honesty had enough chances to have won the game.
"I think they had a couple of chances and have scored from a set-piece. That was what disappointed us because we played some superb football, especially in the first half.
"All we can do is take the positives from the game and that was we restricted them to just one or two decent chances and created a number of good chances ourselves. Once we sort out that end product then we should be fine."
