Mat Mitchel-King is hoping to make a return to full training on Thursday after experiencing a further problem with his back in recent weeks. Mitchel-King, 26, explains his distress when his lower back locks up to prevent him from training fully and playing.
The club captain has missed the club's last five games after spraining his ankle against Darlington but it is his back that has caused him the most discomfort over the last few weeks.
Talking to the club's offcial web-site, the former Histon defender explained his situation: "I basically have a bulging disk, some of one of the disks has broken away and if it breaks totally that would be the worst nightmare.
"That would mean an operation, out for six months. At the moment, the fluid has drained out of the disk and to be honest all I can do is manage. I'm doing a lot of work to strengthen and tighten it up and avoiding any more damage.
"I first had the problem at Histon last season, and when I signed here I told them about it and we've just monitored it basically. It wasn't until the game with Stockport in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy that I felt it again, and then after that it wasn't a problem again until now.
Mat added: "It jut sort of locks up and goes stiff, it comes and goes and to be honest it's annoying, and it's hard, I don't like not playing. It's all I want to do but hopefully I'll be fit again soon and can push on again from there."
