Simon Walton is hoping that his family life can return to some sort of normality now that his fiancé, the model Nicola Tappenden has been voted out of the Celebrity Big Brother House.

Walton has been focussing purely on his football as he tries to resurrect his career at Crewe Alexandra after being frozen out of things at his parent club Plymouth Argyle.

He has described going home to watch Nicola T on television every night as surreal - but admits that the weeks have flown by.

In an interview with Crewe Alex Player, the 22-year-old midfielder said: "It has been a little strange to say the least and I've watched it every night. The time has flown by and she has said the same.

"I think she has done very well and I am really proud of her. She loved every minute of it and I think she has won some people round. The reception she received when coming out has given her a lift. She is still on a high but it is great to have her back home.

"It will be nice to be back to normal again and be a family again but I was pleased for her.

"With it being January, she actually asked where I was playing. I told her I was still at Crewe and that I had enjoyed every minute of it. I think I've played something like 13, 14 games on the bounce and I haven't done that for about three years.

"Dario has really helped me and I want to repay the faith he has shown in me. I couldn't be happier, it seems two careers on the up and everything is going well."
