I've Waited A Long Time For This
It has certainly been a progressive pre-season for youngster James Bailey. The Macclesfield-born midfielder is set to make his full debut for the club on Saturday, after playing consistency well throughout the summer. It seems that Bailey has seen off competition from the likes of Steven Schumacher, Mark Carrington, Ben Rix and Gary Roberts to start against Brighton on Saturday.
With Jake Livermore suffering that untimely injury at Wrexham, Bailey was thrown into action at the Racecourse Stadium and hasn't looked back. Bailey performed admirably against Hull and was arguably our outstanding player against Preston last weekend. He is now in possession of the shirt, and doesn't intent to give it up easily.
Ahead of our opening game against Brighton at Gresty Road, James told us: "I was given a chance at Wrexham and haven't looked back really. Now I am starting games, my aim is stay in the side for as long as I can.
"My family are very happy for me, because they all know how long I've wanted this. I've worked hard for a chance all summer and I'm looking forward to the new season, and especially the Brighton game.
"I would think there will be a few nerves beforehand, but that is good. I think you need that. All I'm looking to do, is to work hard and help the team make a positive start to the season. We know there are a lot of games over a season, but it is always nice to make a good start and get that first win. Hopefully, that can come this Saturday."
