Livermore: 'Crewe's Style Will Suit Me'
Crewe Alexandra's new loan signing Jake Livermore is hoping that a move to the Alexandra Stadium will progress his career further. Livermore, 18, has followed in the footsteps of his former Tottenham Hotspur team mate Lee Barnard by coming to Crewe in search of regular first team football.
Livermore, who spent a brief period on loan at MK Dons last season, signed on a six-month loan late this afternoon and will now meet up with his new team-mates during tomorrow's training session.
Livermore exclusively told the club's official web-site: "The main thing is that I am 18 now and obviously looking to progress with my career. Getting some first team football was my main objective and I know they play good football here at Crewe.
"They have a reputation for always willing to give youngsters a chance, so this is a perfect opportunity for me.
"I've been following football all my life and a lot of people know about Crewe and their reputation for bringing players through and giving them a chance in the first team, so I was delighted really when the coaches at Spurs told me I had a chance to come to Crewe."
So did Livermore seek advice from our former Spurs loanee Barnard?
"I did actually speak to Lee briefly and he said it was a great environment and a family club and he said that the football is good. He also said the fans are very good and it's generally a good place to be.
"I think there was some interest from Crewe at the start of last season and it has just progressed through the year and now that the move has materialised I'm delighted."
Jake adds: "I think my main strengths are getting about the pitch, and I can also score some goals. Defensively, I'm pretty solid and I like to get the ball down and play as well. I think Crewe's style will suit me.
"I just want to get some league football under my belt and contribute for the club and help them get some results and cup runs. From my point of view just get myself out there and get some games really."
