Crewe Alexandra's first signing of the summer, Adam Legzdins is hoping to push for more first team action next season following his release from Birmingham City. The Stafford-born goalkeeper faced a difficult task of displacing the consistent Maik Taylor, Colin Doyle and Artur Krysiak from Alex McLeish's starting line-up but feels a move to Crewe may ignite his career.

In order to gain some first-team experience, Legzdins was willing to move out on emergency loan and made quite an impression at non-league Halifax Town last season. Legzdins helped the club avoid relegation from the Blue Square Conference by one point, as Colin Little's Altrincham faltered at the death.

Legzdins is now hoping to bring that experience to the Alexandra Stadium and challenge for the number one jersey. He knows that Crewe are on the look-out for another more experienced keeper but is relishing the chance to push himself forward.

Before jetting off for his summer holiday, Adam told Crewe Alex World: "I was keen to get everything sorted as soon as possible, so I knew where I was going. Signing for Crewe gives me the chance to use the pre-season to get to know the lads better and hopefully go on to have a good season.

"I would like to be pushing for a first team place and have a chance to play. At Birmingham I was number three, so it is hard to draw any comparisons between the clubs from that aspect. I'd like to think that if I train hard and do well I will get the opportunity to play week in and week out here. That's my overall aim.

"I'm looking for a good move to forward my career and Steve Holland invited me down to the training ground, probably about 8 or 9 days ago now, and obviously going around the training ground I couldn't be anything but impressed by the set up and the facilities.

Adam added: "Talking to Dario and Steve, I was nothing but impressed by what they said about where the club was going and where I would fit in, and obviously I thought everything kind of weighed up that this was the club for me."
