Steve Holland has wished Ben Williams all the best for his future career after his number one goalkeeper decided not to sign a new contract at the club. The former Manchester United trainee has decided to end his four-year career here at the Alexandra Stadium and will move on a free transfer in the summer.

Holland has nothing but the utmost respect for Williams, who he says has been the ultimate professional during his time with the club.

Steve told crewealex.net: "It was hoped that Ben would be prepared to re-sign but having spoken to him on more than one occasion, I half expected that he would be looking to move on this summer.

"I think I've had a good relationship with Ben all the way through his time here at Crewe and of course we are disappointed to be losing him because I think he had a good season. I spoke to him a couple of times this week and he goes with our best wishes because he is a good lad and an excellent professional.

"We tried to persuade him to stay on and made him a very good offer but he has decided to move on and we have to move on."

Crewe Alexandra would like to wish Ben every success with his future career in football.
