Baudet: We Looked Decent At Leeds
Crewe Alexandra's captain Julien Baudet says his team will go into tomorrow's night clash with Carlisle United with extra confidence after another superb point at Leeds. In fact, the French defender was left a little aggrieved that we didn't hang on at the end to secure all three points at Elland Road.
Baudet was harshly adjudged to have felled Anthony Elding in the lead up to Tresor Kandol's 86th minute equaliser. After Nicky Maynard has slotted home the opening goal on 47 minutes, Crewe looked fairly comfortable in defence and had enough opportunities to finish off the home side in the second half.
Baudet told the club's official web-site: "Three points on Saturday would have been nice, because I thought we deserved to hang on and win the game. I didn't think we were under that much trouble and played well.
"We didn't have a great start and they had a couple of good chances, but we showed some real spirit and looked a decent team against one of the best team's in the league. If they hadn't had lost 15 points then they would have been right up there in the automatic spots.
"Saying that the league table doesn't lie and despite our efforts at Leeds we are back in the bottom four. We have some tough games coming up and if we don't start to get some wins against the clubs who are in-and-around us at the bottom.
He added: "We need to pick up points against the Port Vale, Gillingham and Cheltenham in the next few weeks or all the hard work we have done up against the top teams will be pointless."
