The 'other' Gary Roberts is hoping a period on loan at Crewe Alexandra will restore some faded confidence after an up-and-down season at Championship side Ipswich. Roberts has found himself on the fringes of things at Portman Road and has not featured for Jim Magilton's side since the end of January.

Roberts, who teamed up with his new team-mates just in time to feature for us at Leyton Orient certainly made an instant impression with his attacking wing play, and now he is hoping to rediscover the form that saw Ipswich swoop to sign him from Accrington two seasons ago.

Gary told us: "I really enjoyed the game on Tuesday, we kept the ball really well. At Ipswich that is something that is drummed into us, to pass the ball and Crewe do the same so I felt at home.

"I am happy to be here and I hope the Manager is happy with me being here too. I just hope we can keep winning now. I have come here to regain my confidence and the Manager is willing to play me so I have to repay him with a bit of faith and some good performances.

Gary added: "I'll play anywhere, it doesn't matter to me but I do like to play off the striker, I've always said that but if he wants to play me wide left then I am more than happy."
