Pope Wants To Keep The Shirt
Tom Pope has told Crewe Alex World that he wants the chance to fill the strikers boots; we have being tying to fill throughout the duration of this transfer window. Pope netted again last night to salvage a point against Bristol Rovers and now the former Biddulph Victoria striker is hoping for a continued run in the side.
"We were sloppy in the first half, we know that, there wasn't much there, we got a bit of a rollicking at half time and that seemed to give everyone a lift. I was poor and so were another 4 or 5 players in the first half, and you're not going to win games if that is happening if only a few of you are playing to your potential.
"In the second half I thought there were 10 or 11 players out there who gave it their all and you can't ask for more than that. On any other day I could have had a hat trick, it's just the way it's going at the moment.
"It's always nice to score a goal but like I said I could have come away with 3. It was a great response from all of the lads, we all dug in and straight from the first whistle we pressured them and yes, I was lucky to get a goal in the first minute but on another day it could have been 3 goals and 3 points.
He added: "I hope I'm proving a point. We all want to build on the squad, but I feel like I'm the man who can help them. Me and Nicky, we can get goals between us, he can feed off me and I can get on the end of crosses and I think we're a good partnership."
There is more from Tom Pope available now on Crewe Alex World. Don't forget that you can sign up now for just £19.99, which will give you access to the club's in-house TV Station until August.
