More Swan Impressions From Gaz?
An in-form Gary Roberts is hoping he will be producing his now trademark swan celebration on a few more occasions this season! The Chester-born midfielder has notched six goals this season, which included a timely brace against Tranmere Rovers on New Year's Day. It is a tally, which currently sees him as the club's leading goal scorer and now he is targeting at least double figures from the centre of midfield.
Gary told the club's official web-site: "It was a good time to get three points against Tranmere because we didn't have too much good fortune in December. It was nice to get a couple of goals, but the most important thing was that we won the game.
"We know we could do with a few more wins but before December, we were on a great run and had won five out of six. If we could produce that type of form again then who knows where we could be.
"I feel as though I've got my own personal form back on track because I felt I did have a bit of a dip. Hopefully, now I can kick on and have a strong second half of the season.
"I think I have been one of our most consistent players of late and I have started to score some goals. I used to score regularly in the Academy, so hopefully I can carry that on in the first team now. It would be nice to reach double figures and that is the target I've set myself."
So where did the bizarre swan impersonation stem from?
"I just did it once at training behind Tom Pope and everyone just burst out laughing. I just decided to take it into the matches as a goal celebration."
