Lee Barnard says he is looking forward to returning to London this weekend but only to spearhead Crewe's attack once again. Barnard will expect a number of family and friends to be present for this weekend's clash with Millwall and he is hoping he can inspire Crewe to their first win in seven games.

Barnard's finely taken goal against Huddersfield looked liked ending our barren spell, but Crewe saw three points slip through their fingers thanks to a late headed goal from Andy Booth.

Barnard admits that the Alex dressing room considered it two points dropped at Huddersfield and now he has targeted an away win at the New Den.

Lee told the club's official web-site: "We were disappointed not to have won the game. I thought we played really well in the first half, didn't create that much but still took the lead.

"My touch got away from me a bit for the goal to be honest, I thought the keeper was going to get it, but I just managed to dink it over him.

"We thought we could build on that lead in the second half but it didn't quite go our way. I suppose one point is better than none, but we all felt it was two points lost."

Barnard marked his first start for the club since suffering ankle ligament damage against Luton Town in October with a superbly taken goal. The on-loan Tottenham youngster is just grateful to be back playing again after missing so much football over the last couple of seasons.

Lee told us: "It was nice to be back in the starting line up and very nice to score. It would have been nice to have it as the winning goal but it wasn't to be. Hopefully, now we can just build on that at Millwall on Saturday.

Lee added: "It is another trip back down South for me! It's always nice to go home, but more importantly hopefully we'll just get a win and put a good performance in."
